Mighty Games Group

These characters were commissioned as a basis for inflatable art installations to be displayed around Melbourne’s Arts Precinct during the 2015 Summer Salt festival. The Bee appeared at Melbourne Recital Centre, The Leviathan tentacles peered out from Hamer Hall, Puck the Dinosaur was on top of the Melbourne Theatre Company’s building while Shine resided on the top of her own Shine Bar in the Dodds Street festival Hub. A fifth character design – The Spaceman, was not developed beyond digital model.

These floating Lotus Flowers appeared on the Yarra river during the 2015 Melbourne White Night arts festival. The CG model was used as a reference for fabric patterning.



The Don was a large puppet representation of the 2015 Cricket World Cup mascot that appeared during the Australian opening ceremony. The CG model was used as a base for routed components and fabric patterning.




The Creature Technology Company specialises in large scale animatronic creatures. I have been employed on a number of projects as a digital concept and fabrication designer. While each project is different, much of my work on each involves the design of individual components of a creature, either moulds for the hard surface parts which lie under the soft muscles of the creature or inflatable parts which are then converted to fabric patterns. I also contribute scale maquettes and guides as well as a wide variety of diagrams.


How to Train your Dragon – The Arena Spectacular

This project brought the Dreamworks animated movie to the stage. I contributed to 8 of the 10 full and half-scale dragons that appear in the show. I also worked on a promotional suit which appeared at numerous media events.

King Kong – Live on Stage

The King Kong – Live on Stage theatrical musical features a 6 metre tall, combination animatronic/marionette ape, along with an enormous snake for him to battle.

In addition to my typical creature design duties, I also contributed some digital prop design

Sochi Winter Olympics Mascots

These giant animatronic mascots appeared in both the opening and closing ceremonies of the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia.

Lady Liberty puppet for the 2015 New York Spring Spectacular at Radio City Music Hall. Also pictured is a typical example of a hard surface component that I designed.
